As November Comes to a Close

Where has November gone? Being busy getting ready for the "Little Treasures" Art Show is a big part of Novembers demise. My accomplishments are many, yet for some reason I don't feel like I have done much , but finish off series after series on Netflix, get into a morning loop on facebook , get into a morning loop on facebook, get into..the loop.

Five dedicated artist spent two days hanging the art show. Saturday the 16TH was the opening and we had rave reviews. The artist at the Courtyard Gallery really outdid themselves for this show. I hope you are able to go and do some shopping for your loved ones at the Gallery. If shopping isn't what you do then I hope you can go visit and take in all that the Gallery has to offer, the inspiration of art.

It has been cold, by the river the dying grass grows frost in the shadows.

Yesterday I finished a commission that I have been working on for "The Healthy Chocolate Company". When I paint a top I don't paint one I paint as many as I can get on the table. I worked on three. Below are the two tops I painted with the commission.

Casa Bella Line Black and White

Pilar Cote owner of Casa Bella Hair Studio at 706 George Street in Enderby kindly offered space for my designs. I decided to do a Black and White theme with a touch of yellow. The fabrics are cotton, cotton spandex, linen, and rayon. I made long black knit skirts, and a gored skirt fully lined with big pockets and zipper in the back, knit tops sleeveless with neck line and armhole detail and tops with 3/4 length sleeves. With the scraps of the skirts I made some purses, each one is different, with lots of pockets, adjustable strap and a clip to hold your keys so they don't get lost in the bottom. Today I was in the studio from 1:00 till after 4:00. I fitted a skirt and will be making it soon. 

I love my skirt, top and purse, as you see I have other colors to make the garments in. I have a swatch sheet on the dresser if you need a garment made just for you. This photo by Jette Russell

To the left is the rust dyed table runner of silk and silk, cotton.

Gwen Gregorig turned 90 in April and she is still putting spice into the lives of the people around her. She's still painting and advocating for the arts. As an acceptance speech for the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Arty's she passionately told us the theater we were in is not a theater, with no dressing rooms, no green room. We need a theater!!!! I think she will see her dream come true.

Master Dabbler

As kids growing up we think about what we want to be as adults, and some of us as adults are still thinking about what we want to be.
I am a dabbler but the stigma around a dabbler is that you are a master of none. When I do what I do I do it to the best of my ability and if I don't it's not worth doing. I also find that I inspire others with my diversity. So I have decided that I am a Master, I am a Master Dabbler and I am proud of it!
