Grindrod Garlic Festival 2012

Garlic hanging lamp perfect for that dark corner in the kitchen hanging over a little round bistro table.

It was 27C at 9:30 am on Sunday August 19TH in downtown Enderby, in the afternoon in Grindrod my car read 37C. My purchase of garlic chocolate from "Deep Creek Chocolates" was safe in the cooler under a white cloth, my booth was cooler shaded by curtains hung around it, people were coming in just to enjoy the shade. For the Garlic Festival  I came with garlic themed greeting cards, hats,  bags of all sorts, and a garlic lamp.  I was busy in my booth, and had many items of conversation such as the change room, the boob art, and all the garlic stuff. I did a bit of trading garlic for garments. When you go to a garlic festival there is never a shortage of garlic and you must come home with garlic.

A Garlic fascinator, from the carefully peeled outer layer of a large garlic bulb.  It needed it's own box so I made one with some of my hand made recycled paper and flowers.

I somehow managed to get a break from my booth just in time for the costume contest.  Gabriele, Karen, Maddy, Shawn-Mark and Jeanette in the back row. "Garlic Girl" Maddy was announced the winner.  Maddy is my student, she took sewing lessons for two weekends this summer, her last project was to make a costume for the Garlic Festival, she did a great job. I made the Garlic hats that Gabriele and Jeanette are wearing. Our prizes were Garlic chocolate and two $5.00 Garlic festival bucks.

I am working on new items for the Arts festival Saturday July 28TH in the Maud street parking lot and Garlic related items for the Grindrod Garlic Festival Sunday August 19TH. Hope to see you then.

How did you spend your Fathers Day? One thing we couldn't do was phone or visit with our Dads. My Dad has been gone for awhile and Steve's Dad recently passed at the age of 90. They were on our minds and in our hearts as the influential men in our lives.

What we did do was have a booth at the Caravan Farm Market out in farm country. They also have a Theater which will be starting in July, something I must experience. 

I added to my booth aprons for men and hats, work hats and a most lovely blue cotton hat with a bee on top. They all went nicely with the skirts, hankies, wings and wood creations.

Organic Produce and Crafts in Enderby

Today was a great day for shopping in Enderby. We had a Christmas crafts show at the Enderby Seniors Hall. It's also on tomorrow December 4th from 9:00am till 3:00 pm.You  can buy:

 When I was done at the crafts show I walked over to the Legion where they have a Farmers market on Fridays. One in the morning 10 am to 1-pm and one in the afternoon 3 to 6 pm. I go to both morning and afternoon for the variety.

I bought Rye flour and she gave me a receipt for rye shortbread. I have made it a few times and it is very good.

I walked home through the wet snow with a bag full of goodies. Now I will be off to the afternoon Farmers market to get my baking and more organic produce for the week.
