  Carrot ginger soup was on, chips were hovering in the bowl ready to be dipped into the hummus, punch was cold with pinapple cocanut Rooibos, cookies were sticky to the plate, art was hung. Folks started arriving.

 Eleven people showed up to admire the art, network and eat great food. Barb brought cinnamon buns which went into the oven right away, but once they came out they didn't last long I think it was the hint of Almond. Greig was answering questions and being gentle on his throat, he has done a lot of talking lately and has a lot more to do.

It's funny how a party will end up in one room, at one point we were all gathered in the kitchen around the stove and around the table. It was a good day, and I will sleep well tonight. Tomorrow I go to Vernon to do my volunteer job for the Green Party. Green's need a voice in Parlamont please give use that voice by voting Green. Or just don't vote and nothing will change.

If you were wondering how the sale went for our porch fund, the fund ended up in the toilet. We traded a painting for labour to put in the new toilet. I can cross that off my wish list, and we are saving on water! Thank you Jason.

Depression and an Art Sale Social

March has been a month of disasters for many. Japan is heavy in my heart, hero's working for the greater good at the cost of their own lives. Why we are still as humans at war as our planet grows smaller with the expectation of 7 billion people by the end of the year. The depression I felt the day of the Super Moon was over whelming. The moon itself was exciting, dashed by cloud cover. When we moved into this small old house Steve would be working at and office but his job has gone and other work has replaced “the Job”. We find ourselves needing an office for Steve and a sewing Room for me, and the computers, my computers his computers. Too much stuff, too much stuff to do is bogging me down in this small old house. Perspective stops as if going down stairs with no rail to hang on to, we have a “home”.
As I walk my morning walk, stepping around the dog droppings, I let the disasters and the smell of smoke and mold from the snows melt, fall away. The sight of snow drops blooming, budding trees, Herons souring above my head squawking their prehistoric language, sweet modulations of song birds in the tree tops all heighten my senses. We have survived the winter and the signs of spring shake the depression as the rain will wash away the winters dust.

The Gypsy Bazaar

When you first walk into The Gypsy Bazaar you do not know what to expect. Expect the unexpected. On Ben's business card it says "an eclectic collection of commerce". It all started with a place, a dilapidated old building, built in 1965 as a medical building. They moved in about three years ago and spent a lot of time fixing the broken plumbing and all that goes with an old building. They wanted to do something positive in the community. The Gypsy Bazaar is a place that Artists can hang their wares on consignment. If you are interested in learning they have a number of workshops they are organizing. Yoga, Origami, sewing, nutrition to name a few.

As you can see The Gypsy Bazaar is an eclectic collection of commerce, They also have furniture, but it sells quickly. I have only mentioned a few artist showing at the Gypsy Bazaar, and I think it will evolve. It is not the kind of place you go in and see it all, every time you go in you will see something different. Hope to see you there.

Snow Falls

This was a very busy day We had two telus guy's at two poles working on the lines. And across the street lots of city trucks and such working on a water leak. Our water was off for hours.

Snow can be seen piled high, this one looks to be almost as high as the building. I have also seen the snow being trucked away.

It has certainly snowed a lot and my arm hurts from shoveling the beautiful white crystalline stuff.

Jazz

Jazz two weekends in a row. Steve and I finally made it to the Vernon Jazz Club with our friends George and Allana. The club is member run and the staff is all volunteer. The place is big and can seat 150 people with a nice dance floor. January 8th 2011 Jon Treichel's Scattered Atoms played to a full house. Shows sell out if you don't have a ticket you might not get in even if it was reserved, that is how popular it is. For more on the club visit their web site

Friday the 14th Steve and I walked up the street to the Cliffs Cafe and enjoyed The Sandy Cameron Jazz Trio. This is a more intimate venue and we can walk to it. The trio Sandy Cameron on sax, Bill Lockie on stand up bass and Jorden Dick on guitar are very good, we enjoyed the show and are looking forward to seeing them again. Bringing in the New Year with a Hammer and a Saw

  Steve and I spent the weekend of the New Year with hammer and saw in hand. Steve did the sawing and I did the hammering. Our visions as to how the floor was going to go together were at odds, so I stepped back and let Steve figure it out. I just really wanted it done. A lot of time was spent moving boards around to get the best fit and color combinations. If I had done my math right I would have bought enough wood for the whole floor. By the time we realized we needed two more boxes(a box is 20sqft, we needed 42sqft) I could not get the same flooring so we had to go with something else, the dark narrower boards seemed to be the best choice. Saturday evening when the floor was all done we sat on the new floor sipping tea by candle light, contemplating wood grains and how wonderful it was to have the floor done. Next trim, baseboards, and the closet racks and things. Hoping to have a closet by next weekend.
